The Board of Education follows a budget development process each school year in order to establish the final annual budget for submission to the Ministry of Education and Child Care. This process begins with providing an opportunity for partners to share input toward decision-making through a survey. The survey will be open for input until November 29, 2024. On October 17 at 10:17 am, Sea to Sky School District will participate in the Great British Columbia ShakeOut, an annual drill organized by the BC Earthquake Alliance. This is a chance for students and staff to practice earthquake safety measures like “Drop, Cover, and Hold On.”It’s also a great time to review emergency plans and secure spaces to reduce risks. Is something bothering you about your child's education? Many parents don't know where to begin when their child encounters a problem at school. This presentation will provide parents with information on where to go for help and walk them through common scenarios to help them better understand the policies and processes used within their school district. In the lead-up to National Day for Truth and Reconciliation on September 30, schools throughout the Sea to Sky School District will be holding ceremonies at each school site. These ceremonies are dedicated to honouring survivors, remembering those who never returned, and reflecting on the ongoing legacy of Residential Schools. We encourage all members of our school communities to take time for reflection and learning during this important period of reconciliation. Take action and be part of the journey. Sea to Sky Community Services is launching an important initiative focused on gathering insights from families, youth, and service providers in the Sea to Sky region. The goal is to better understand the barriers to accessing services for children and youth with either diagnosed or undiagnosed disabilities and/or diverse abilities who need support to participate meaningfully in family and community life. A major focus of the project is to identify areas where we can improve access and inclusion. Please see the linked flyer for more information and a link to the survey.
